šŸƒšŸŒøSpring Into Reading šŸŒ·šŸ€

ree

Hello there!

Spring is coming and with march winds comes the luck of the Irish and a bunch of readathons. Today we're going to share with you a few that Chica's doing this March.

šŸ€ Irish Readathon šŸ»

The Irish readathon is an annual readathon hosted every March. This year it's hosted (co-hosted) by Aoife at WordsofClover on YouTube and Discord. She's an Irish lass and hopes to spread more awareness and enjoyment of Irish authors and books. This is a month-long event encouraging people to read more Irish books so to participate all you have to do is read one book by an Irish author. Aoife does provide a handful of fun reading prompts:

Chica's tbr: "Ghost in the throat" by Doireann NĆ GhrĆofa for nonfiction and green book, "Artemis fowl" by Eoin Colfer for children's lit, "The Glorious Guinness Girls" by Emily Hourican for set in 1920s and a book one of the hosts has read before, "Sweeney Astray" by Seamus Heaney for a book set in Northern Ireland, And the group book "Boys Don't Cry" by FĆona Scarlett.

šŸŗ GreekGodAthon ⚔

The GreekGodAthon is hosted by 14 booktubers, each representing a Greek god, on YouTube and Discord. We won't list them all here but check out one of them by the name of Femke on the YouTube channel "Bookish Buddies". This is also a month-long readathon with fun prompts but this one is team-based and allows doubling up on prompts (counting one book for two prompts). The 14 gods are divided up into two teams, Chaos and Control, then every participant chooses a god to whom they pledge themselves. For the sake of time we also won't be listing all the rules, prompts, abilities, and the point tracking system. Check out the announcement video referenced above for those.

Chica's tbr:

For Team Chaos' prompts: "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman for Aphrodite - romance, Poseidon - water elements, and Zeus - cover buy (as team Artemis I'm able to steal Hades' ability to triple up on prompts for this one), "I am legend" by Richard Matheson for Artemis - highly anticipated, and Hades - undead, "Crooked Kingdom" by Leigh Bardugo for Aries - war, and Hephaestus - sequel.

For Team Control's prompts: "The Beach" by Alex Garland for Athena - intended to read in 2022, and Demeter - nature on cover, "These Broken Stars" by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner for Dionysus - guilty pleasure, and Hera - strong female protagonist, "The Glorious Guinness Girls" for Apollo - makes you happy, and Hestia - cozy / heartwarming, And "Sweeney Astray" for Hermes - a short book.

āœØšŸ‘¾ Galaxyathon šŸŒŒšŸ›ø

The Galaxyathon is a two week long readathon centered around reading sci-fi books; from March 7th through March 20th. It takes place this March for the first time ever! It's hosted by TheBrightSideGirl on YouTube and Instagram, and includes a few fun reading prompts and photo challenges. The great thing about this one is that it's all about having fun and reading sci-fi, so you can double up or triple up on prompts as much as you want; the host even said that you could read one book that meets every prompt if you can find it. It's two weeks of reading and watching sci-fi, and geeking out about it. What's not to love? šŸ‘½

Chica's tbr:

The "Starbound" series by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner which should cover all the prompts.

🌷Spring Into Reading Athon🌸

ree

The Spring Into Reading Athon is actually a segment of the Seasonathon which has summer, fall, and winter sessions too. This year it's happening from March 20th through the 27th. It's hosted by three booktubers but we'll suggest just one and you can find the others through her if you want: "Kaylani SimplyMe" is her channel. The reading prompts for this one are actually formatted as a bingo board. So cool!

I don't have much of a TBR for this one as I'm kind of playing it by ear. But the two columns on the right look tempting and I'll probably read one of Kaylani's favorite books:

"The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

We'll let you know how it all goes. Feel free to leave suggestions or questions below in the comments and let us know if you'll be joining any of these readathons. See you next week! šŸ‘‹šŸ»
