Fireworks and Freedom

Hello there!
This Fourth of July is special. Now, families and friends can be together again! After last year, people have grown a new appreciation for connecting with each other in-person. What better time to celebrate the new freedom to hold your loved ones again, than the day we all celebrate the freedoms of our great country?
What is the Fourth of July to you? For many it's just a day on the calendar, and maybe a day or two off work. For others it's a solemn day honoring those brave Americans who fought and died for the freedoms we usually take for granted. Let's not forget the commercialized celebration with fireworks, beer, and barbeque.
For Kiddo & Chica, it's honestly a combination. We sometimes don't anticipate the Fourth of July, as if it were just another day, and of course we appreciate the holiday leave from work. We enjoy spending time with our family, indulging in the commercialized aspect, but we also make it a point to give thanks for the brave men and women who have given their lives in service for our country. We also make sure that we remind ourselves every year of how this holiday, and this country, came about.
So, this year (like almost every year), Kiddo & Chica are getting together with our family, enjoying a nice cookout, and watching Will Smith's "Independence Day" (as is our tradition). A new addition to the movie roster this year is one of Chica's favorite movies of all time, Mel Gibson's "The Patriot". As well as being a phenomenal movie in general, it provides historical context with an emotional, familial touch which we believe helps one to better appreciate this holiday.
We hope everyone is healthy, happy, and able to celebrate this day with their families. Happy Fourth of July y'all!
